According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Portuguese coach José Mourinho would be open to leaving AS Roma this summer only if certain clubs would come calling for him. The two-time Champions League winner (2004, 2010) was appointed Roma manager in 2021, only a few months after his dismissal from the Tottenham Hotspur dugout. The Portuguese coach won the Europa Conference League with the Giallorossi last year. Roma are third-placed in the Serie A standings right now and are still on course in the Europa League. The Italian club will play Feyenoord in the quarter-finals.
However, Mourinho would reportedly be ready to leave AS Roma to pursue another challenge at the highest European level. Only certain clubs would get him to move on from the Italian side, with whom he is under contract until 2024. Aouna has revealed that, should Chelsea make an offer to Roma for Mourinho, “The Special One” would push in favour of a return to the South London club. Mourinho would also be interested in taking the leap to PSG. However, a move to a Saudi outfit is reportedly not on the cards for the former Manchester United boss. Aouna assesses that Roma would be open to letting their manager go.
