Bayern Munich will be without Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for their Champions League clash against Manchester City on Tuesday evening.
The Cameroonian forward missed Saturday’s game against Freiburg with a knee injury and will not travel with the squad to Manchester after missing Bayern Munich’s final training session. It remains unclear as to whether Choupo-Moting will be fit enough for Saturday’s Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim.
In the absence of Choupo-Moting, Serge Gnabry is likely to retain his place as Bayern Munich’s No. 9 but other options are Sadio Mané and Thomas Müller, both of whom featured against Freiburg.
The absence of Choupo-Moting will certainly be felt. The 34-year-old scored in the previous round against PSG and has four goals in six Champions League games this season.
There is some good news coming out of the Rekordmeister. Kingsley Coman, who was an unused substitute against Freiburg, did train on Monday and is likely to be in the squad to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
