France move up to second in FIFA rankings

In the wake of their successful March international break, France have moved up to second place in the FIFA rankings, with the latest update in the table coming today.

Les Bleus saw off The Netherlands 4-0 at the Stade de France, as Kylian Mbappé scored twice on his first appearance as national team captain. A slender 1-0 win in Dublin three days later meant Didier Deschamps’ men made it two from two to kick off their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

The biggest movers at the top though, are Brazil – the Seleção’s defeat to Morocco has seen them move from first place down to third, with World Cup winners Argentina now the leaders for the first time in six years after two friendly wins over Panama and Curaçao. Walid Regragui’s men, meanwhile, are the highest-ranked African nation, in eleventh. The rankings will notably be used by FIFA in the group stage draw for the 2026 World Cup,
