PSG fear Neymar’s injuries could see him fail medical ahead of summer transfer

As he faces another long spell on the sidelines, Neymar’s latest injury setback – which saw him undergo ankle surgery in the wake of repeated issues in the past few years – could have an impact on his PSG future, with the Brazilian only expected back at the end of the summer.

According to Le Parisien, the Ligue 1 leaders’ management – who are reportedly looking to sell the former Barcelona man this summer – feat that his injury-prone nature would see him fail a prospective medical should a transfer take place.

The club’s Sporting Advisor, Luís Campos, wants Neymar to leave as a result of his lack of availability – rushing back to play in the last two World Cups has aggravated his long-term fitness, and he is unlikely to be able to play a full season moving forward. The idea would be to centre the project fully around Kylian Mbappé – but given the Brazilian’s weakened ankles, and his lucrative contract running until 2027, the likelihood is that he will remain in the French capital for the foreseeable future.

Despite his post-World Cup struggles, the 31-year-old was arguably the best player in France -and was turning in his best season since joining in 2017 – before the World Cup, scoring 13 goals as Les Parisiens surged to the top of the league. The situation three months later, though, is markedly different.
