Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is a massive admirer of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and wants to sign him, according to The Athletic.
The striker’s future will be in the spotlight again for the third consecutive season. Manchester City wanted to sign him two summers ago, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy rejected their advances.
Different clubs enquired about taking him last summer but did not firm up their interest.
United have been heavily tipped to move for Kane as they strive to replace five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
The signed Wout Weghorst on loan in January, but will not make the move permanent this summer.
Kane has been a club target since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure, but dealing with Levy was a massive stumbling block.
However, there is a feeling that if there was ever a time for Kane to leave north London, it is now.
He is entering the final year of his contract and recently broke the club’s all-time top-scoring record against Manchester City.
There is nothing more for him to chase, particularly with the club not fighting for silverware.
Levy will reportedly sanction a move for Kane if the price is above £100 million. Despite being in massive debt, United can afford to move for Ten Hag’s first-choice target.
They could face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
They like Kane, but the Germans will not like his price tag even though they can afford it, leaving United as the primary candidate for the striker’s signature.
