France striker and skipper Kylian Mbappé (24) has heaped praise on Ireland international forward Evan Ferguson (18). The Brighton and Hove Albion player scored his first goal for his country on Wednesday, in a 3-2 of Latvia in a friendly match. The 18-year-old striker in particular caught the eye of Mbappé, when Deschamps planned a video analysis of France’s opponents:
“We watched some of his plays, he’s a very good striker“, assessed Mbappé in his pre-match press conference that RMC Sport attended. “We’ll be very wary of him and, hopefully, we won’t see him much.“
The PSG forward also pointed out that Les Bleus needed to be on their guard when they face the Stephen Kenny-led Irish team, who will be backed up by their fans in the Aviva Stadium stands tomorrow night. Mbappé says he and his France teammates watched Ireland’s first half against Latvia. “They’re a team who play with three at the back. We tend to think that they are an combative team. We’ll need to be careful, but also attack-minded and agressive“, says Mbappé, who expects a good game as Ireland will want to put on a show against the 2022 World Cup runners-up.
