Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Vitinha has expressed his disappointment following his side’s defeat at home to Rennes on Sunday afternoon in Ligue 1. The Portuguese native apologised to PSG supporters, in a game which saw Karl Toko Ekambi and former Parisian Arnaud Kalimuendo score for the Black and Red.
Speaking to Canal+,Vitinha believed that PSG fans “did not deserve to witness such a poor performance,” adding that it was “not a performance like us (PSG), we are very sad”.
Looking to the future, Vitinha said “We will not give up. We’re going to think about what we need to improve on during the break.”
Although Christophe Galtier’s men remain ten points clear ahead of Marseille’s trip to Reims tonight, the overriding feeling is that if their Classique rivals had shown more consistency this season, the record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 title would not have been such a formality – as the Parisians look to struggle to come to terms with another end of season canter to the title.
