Liverpool Edging Closer To Sign This Aberdeen Right-Back

In a recent report from Mirror, it is mentioned that Liverpool are edging closer to signing Calvin Ramsay of Aberdeen. It has also been mentioned that the Reds have discussed a £4m transfer fee with the Scottish Premiership outfit, and an additional £2m could follow in add-ons.

Ramsay’s Campaign With Aberdeen This Season

Calvin Ramsay has had a solid campaign, having produced a few impressive displays in the Scottish Premiership. The right-back has scored one goal and created nine assists over 39 appearances last season.

The talented youngster has successfully established himself as a key player in the backline, averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, and 1.7 clearances per game in the Scottish Premiership (stats via whoscored).

Should Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Loan Him Upon His Arrival?

Ramsay has proven to have a lot of potential playing in the backline. He is not afraid to put his foot into a tackle. He is adept at playing his way out from the back and remains exceptional in distributing the ball to his teammates.

The Scottish defender can win the ball back from the opposition as he remains agile. He can even make use of his pace to make some decent runs down the right flank. He has the ability to find his teammates and set them up through a few key passes in the penalty box.

At 18, he has already shown his potential in the last season, even catching the attention of Jurgen Klopp. He can improve with each season and become a good understudy for Trent- Alexander Arnold.

The aspirational defender would most likely be loaned out upon his arrival at Anfield, as Klopp would want him to gain more experience. But all in all, this seems to be a decent investment for the Reds, considering that he grows to his potential over the coming seasons.
