Borussia Dortmund forward Steffen Tigges has passed his medical at FC Köln, according to Bild.
The 23-year-old will join the Billy Goats for a reported €1.5m, providing competition for Anthony Modeste.
Tigges was awarded his Bundesliga debut under interim Edin Terzić in January 2021 but missed much of last season through injury. Under Marco Rose in the Bundesliga, Tigges scored three league goals in 103 minutes across nine games.
The arrival of Tigges at Köln’s RheinEnergieStadion will relieve some of the goalscoring pressure on Modeste, who scored 20 goals last season, 38% of Köln’s 52 Bundesliga goals.
Last week, Tigges approached management at BVB announcing his desire to leave the club. Playing time would have been hard to find given the arrival of Karim Adeyemi whilst they’re still pursuing a replacement for Erling Haaland, Saša Kalajdžić being the current favourite to replace the Norwegian.
Tigges scored 35 goals and created 25 in 65 games for BVB II.
