In a recent print edition, The Mirror (June 12th, Page 72) claimed that West Ham United are eyeing a move for Watford speedster Ismaila Sarr. It has been mentioned that the Hammers could move in for the Senegalese wide player during this summer transfer window.
Sarr’s Recent Season At Vicarage Road
Sarr put in a few eye-catching displays for the Hornets but struggled to be productive in the final third. The 24-year-old has registered five goals and two assists in 22 matches for the Hertfordshire club last season in all competitions.
The Senegalese sensation deserves some credit for averaging 1.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, his efforts were not enough to keep Watford in the English top flight. He even distributed the ball well after making 77.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Snap Sarr Up This Summer?
Sarr is blessed with terrific pace which he can use to get the better of his marker out on the flanks. He can get to the byline easily and can create some promising chances for his teammates inside the opponent’s penalty box. Sarr can even create space for himself to get a few shots in on-target.
The Senegal international can contribute by scoring the odd goal in the attacking end of the field but needs to be more consistent with his offensive numbers if he wants to become a regular feature in top-flight football in the coming seasons. Sarr is versatile enough to play anywhere across the frontline. At 24, the Senegalese wing wizard’s prime years are ahead of him which makes him a decent option for West Ham to pursue in this off-season.
We can expect the Watford ace to inject more pace and goals into West Ham United boss David Moyes‘ attacking department. He would offer some healthy competition for Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium. Therefore, the Hammers would be wise to engineer a move to snap Sarr up this summer as he could help them stay competitive in the top-four race next season.
