Fran García will join Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano this summer, report AS.
The 23-year-old is having a great season at the Estadio de Vallecas and he has been linked with a move away from Southern Madrid throughout the January transfer window.
It was communicated that Bayer Leverkusen were keen to sign García, but Real Madrid held the operation at a standstill as they had priority in securing the services of the Spaniard. Last night Raúl Martín Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano, confirmed to AS that Los Blancos have chosen to activate García’s buy-out clause and will pay €5m to Los Franjirrojos for the full-back.
García will stay at Rayo Vallecano until the end of the season and will move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in the summer.
Real Madrid are currently in desperate need for a right-back. With Ferland Mendy injured, Eduardo Camavinga played on the right-hand side of Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive line over the weekend and the Frenchman is expected to continue starting in his compatriot’s position until his recovery.
