Manchester United are ‘trying to protect’ winger Jadon Sancho and will take their time in making sure he’s ready to return to action, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has informed GIVEMESPORT.
The 22-year-old has not played for the Red Devils since October in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Man United latest news – Jadon Sancho
Of late, The Daily Mail has reported that Sancho will not return to action for Manchester United just yet, despite returning to training last week for the first time in two months.
The former Borussia Dortmund star has been absent due to physical and mental issues and missed the Red Devils’ training camp in Spain during the winter to work on his fitness and well-being.
Over the World Cup break, the £350,000-a-week star travelled over to Holland to work with coaches that Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has a good relationship with, in order to put in some preparation work for an eventual return to first-team football.
Now the England international is back on the training field at Carrington; it looks as if we could see Sancho back on the pitch sooner rather than later at Old Trafford.
What has Fabrizio Romano said about Jadon Sancho?
Transfer guru Romano believes that Manchester United will give Sancho all the time he needs to return to selection at Old Trafford fit and firing.
Romano told GMS: “For Sancho, they’re trying to protect the player. We know how complicated the last two or three months have been for Jadon Sancho on the physical and mental side.
“So this is why Man United, with the coaching staff, they’re trying to protect the player to bring him in good condition and then at that point to bring him back to the squad, to be ready to play probably in the next weeks or months – we have to see how long it will take.”
Will Sancho make an impact in the second half of the season?
Undoubtedly, Sancho is a player that possesses supreme talent and Manchester United fans will be glad to see he is nearing a return to first-team action after a spell away from the limelight.
Since signing from Borussia Dortmund back in 2021 for £73 million, Sancho has always left a little bit to be desired on the pitch, though now could be his perfect opportunity to star for the Red Devils in their hunt for silverware.
In 2022/23, Sancho has made 14 appearances for Manchester United, notching two goals and one assist, as per Transfermarkt.
The Red Devils have taken the right steps in building the 22-year-old back up to full fitness, with his presence in the second half of this term adding another dimension to their excellent array of attacking options.
For all concerned at Old Trafford, they will be pleased to see Sancho back in the reckoning and will hope he can play a big part in their success going forward.
