VfL Bochum have sold Congolese striker Tarsis Bonga to Eintracht Braunschweig.

After three appearances in the first division and 11 in the second, VfL Bochum have parted company with Neuwied native Tarsis Bonga. The Revierklub picked up the 26-year-old German Congolese attacker on a free from Chemnitzer FC in the summer of 2020. Bonga never really found his way into the Bochum side and had been considered a “dead-weight burden” on the club’s payroll.
Bonga, who had recently been training with Eintracht Braunschweig, will now perhaps get a chance to help the Lower Saxon Lions escape relegation from the 2. Bundesliga. Braunschweig still hedged their bets with Bonga, signing him on a short-term-deal good only through the end of the season. No immediate information on a potential transfer fee is available at this time.
“We were able to get a very good picture of Tarsis in the past two weeks. He fits very well into our team, both athletically and personally,” BTSV managing director Peter Vollman noted in a statement published on Eintracht’s website, “With him, we have been able to sign a physically very robust striker. He has a good individual technique and fits very well with our transitional game.”
“Myself and the team have gotten to know one another in training camp,” Bonga added in his own statement, “My feelings for the club are already very strong. I’m looking forward to going out on the pitch this crest on my chest and showing what I can do every day.”
“We have always clearly communicated to Tarsis how difficult it will be for him to get playing time in our Bundesliga squad,” Bochum sporting director Patrick Fabian noted in commenting on the move, “He’s taken a chance in Braunschweig. We wish him all the best and much success at Eintracht.”
