Sébastien Haller made his first appearance for Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday afternoon, just months after given a positive diagnosis for testicular cancer following his arrival from Ajax last summer.
The French-Ivorian was introduced in the 74th minute as BVB put five past Fortuna Düsseldorf with Felix Passlack, Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck and Donyell Malen (2) all scoring.
Haller (28) returned to team training last week and was also included in BVB’s training camp squad after overcoming two surgeries and chemotherapy following a positive diagnosis for testicular cancer in July last year.
Borussia Dortmund find themselves in sixth, nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich. BVB’s next game is their Bundesliga fixture against Augsburg on January 22.

It’s unclear as to whether or not Haller will be a part of the matchday squad as BVB officials have continuously stated that they don’t wish to rush the forward back after such a long period out.
