In an interview that appeared on Marca prior to Real Sociedad’s match against Logroñés in the round of last 32 of the Copa del Rey, head coach Imanol Alguacil discussed the future of David Silva.
The former Manchester City player’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Nonetheless, Alguacil expressed his hope that Silva extends his stay in San Sebastián (Donostia):
“David is tremendous, I will never tire of repeating that he is extremely important to me, for the team and for the club. I wouldn’t have any doubts about renewing him, if he wants to. He’s ready to play for the team, we are lucky to have him with us.”
The Canarian midfielder joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2020. At the age of 36 he shows no sign of stopping and he continues to be a key member of Alguacil’s team. He has made 17 appearances so far this season.
