With multiple German media sources now reporting that Youssoufa Moukoko has been tendered a generous contract extension offer, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has now utilized the local press to apply further pressure on the teenage phenom to make a decision on his future. Kehl was unequivocal in his words whilst speaking to Westphalia’s Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung” (WAZ) yesterday.
“We would obviously like to receive a decision quite promptly,” Kehl told the newspaper, “It is important for all parties to have clarity.”
For his part, Moukoko himself has denied reports that he’s been offered a €6 million annual salary by the BVB. Furthermore, the 18-year-old made clear that he didn’t wish to be pressured into making a decision about his future in a statement released via instagram on Friday.
Moukoko’s contract with the BVB expires at the end of the season. The young phenom remains free to negotiate with any and all clubs interested in him throughout the current January transfer window. He may sign papers to leave Dortmund on a free after the season as well.
