Marco Reus suffers injury on international duty

The DFB confirm tonight that Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus has picked up a thigh muscle strain whilst training for Germany’s upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Hungary and Italy.

The 33-year-old only arrived for international duty on Saturday after an infection. Reus will remain with the squad and will undergo treatment with Germany’s physios.

Reus played an important role for Borussia Dortmund last season, scoring nine goals and creating 17 in 29 Bundesliga games as BVB finished runners-up to Bayern Munich.

The Borussia Dortmund forward made a decision to miss Euro 2020 to focus on his fitness but returned to the squad under Hansi Flick and has played four games under the former Bayern Munich head coach.

Reus has earned 48 caps for Germany, scoring 15 and creating 14.

Germany remain unbeaten under Flick in 11 games and face Hungary on Saturday night before playing against Italy in Mönchengladbach on June 14.
