Arsenal have enquired about the availability of Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, who would ‘definitely consider’ a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The winger has previously worked with manager Mikel Arteta at Manchester City, when the Spaniard was assistant to Pep Guardiola, and could be willing to work under him again at the Gunners.
Arsenal Transfer News – Leroy Sane
According to 90min, Arsenal are one of several clubs that have contacted Bayern regarding a potential transfer, however his current club have made it clear that at this stage they have no intentions of selling the former City star.
The same report indicates that the decision is not so clear cut for the man himself, however, as he is believed to be considering his options, although it is still unlikely that he pushes for a move at this stage, because of his manager’s faith in him.
Julian Nagelsmann has handed the playmaker 13 league appearances this season, featuring in every game where he has not been ruled out with injury, as per Transfermarkt, so he does not need to leave the Bundesliga in search of more game time.
As per Spanish sources, via TuttoMercatoWeb, Real Madrid are also plotting a move for the German as a replacement for Marco Asensio, who is currently not going to extend his stay with the Spanish giants beyond the end of the season.
What has O’Rourke said about Sane?
O’Rourke claims that because Sane knows people at Arsenal, such as Arteta, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, he would definitely think about a move to the club, telling GIVEMESPORT: “I think it could only help, if there’s any potential move for Leroy Sane, if he knows people that he has previously worked with, like Mikel Arteta.
“I’m sure it will come into his thinking if he wants to leave Bayern Munich, and he will definitely seriously consider a move to Arsenal because Arteta’s there, and the players that he’s played with as well.“
How did Sane perform in Germany vs Spain?
The Germany international is currently competing at the World Cup, although he did not feature in the first group game, in which his side fell to a shock 2-1 defeat against Japan.
In the following match against Spain, the Essen-born speedster was brought on as a substitute in the second half, but laid down a real marker to manager Hansi Flick that he should be picked more often in the starting lineup.
During his short cameo on the pitch, Sane weighed in with one key pass, becoming one of just two Germany players to create a big chance in the match, as per SofaScore, alongside Jamal Musiala, who assisted the equaliser in the 1-1 draw.
Lauded by club manager Nagelsmann for his “outstanding quality” and “incredible pace”, as per the Bundesliga website, the £320k-a-week earning winger has a lot to offer the Germany side, and would really strengthen Arsenal’s bid for the Premier League title if a move was possible.
