Heading into Sunday’s game against Spain, Julian Brandt has insisted that the German team are not thinking about the 6-0 defeat they suffered against ‘La Roja’ two years ago.

Having lost 1-2 against Japan in their World Cup opening game, Germany are coming into Sunday’s game against Spain with their backs against the wall.
Last time the two teams met, in November 2020, Germany were thrashed 6-0 in Sevilla, but that result does not affect the German players at all, according to Julian Brandt.
“I don’t think it matters. That was two years ago. We are in a different situation. We are much further, regardless of how the last results were,” Brandt said at a press conference today.
“We’re in a crappy situation, and Spain are coming off a 7-0 win. But this is an opportunity for us to release a lot of energy.
“A little bit over a year ago, we also lost to France in the opener, and then we beat Portugal in the second game. This is a familiar situation for the squad. I don’t think that the 6-0 result still plays a role.”
