Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will be attracting the interest of ‘top clubs’ as he continues to impress in the North East, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
Eddie Howe was handed more than £100 million to strengthen in the summer but it is one of his January recruits who continues to catch the eye.
What is the latest on Guimaraes?
The 24-year-old completed his transfer to Newcastle back at the start of 2022, signing from Lyon in a deal worth £40 million.
He has since gone on to score seven times in 25 appearances for the Magpies, providing two assists, and becoming a firm fan favourite at St James’ Park in the process.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle are prepared to reward Guimaraes’ fine form by handing him a new £200,000 per-week deal that will run until 2028.
His current £120,000 per week contract is not set to expire until 2026 but the report adds the club are eager to put off potential suitors.
What has O’Rourke said on potential interest?
O’Rourke believes that any transfer interest in Guimaraes just further emphasises how impressive he has been since arriving in the Premier League.
The journalist adds that big clubs will inevitably have their attention grabbed by a player in the form the Brazilian has shown.
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “It just shows how well Guimaraes has done since he’s arrived at Newcastle. He’s really taken the Premier League by storm and he’s been scoring a few goals in recent weeks as well. There’s even talk of Real Madrid being interested in him. I think all these top clubs will be sitting up and taking notice of what Guimaraes is doing at Newcastle right now.”

Is there a threat of Newcastle losing Guimaraes?
It is understood that reigning European champions Real Madrid wanted to sign the midfielder during the summer transfer window to replace the outgoing Casemiro.
Meanwhile, O’Rourke has previously told GiveMeSport that Guimaraes – who has scored 14 career goals – would fit into Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, after MailOnline reported the Citizens posed the biggest threat to Newcastle.
It is clear that the North East giants may have to fend off some interest in the future. But this is a different Newcastle now and one that can compete with the finances of City and Real Madrid.
They will not let him go without a fight.
