Mainz captain Silvan Widmer will miss Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen due to a muscle injury.
“He has a minor muscle fiber tear, which we believe will heal quickly,” Mainz coach Bo Svensson told reporters today.
“To say exactly how long it will take is difficult. He was already running today, which is a good sign. But we don’t expect him to be available for us in the next few games.”
Svensson also revealed that Robin Zentner will captain the side in Widmer’s absence.
