Serie A has been the home for some of the best talents of the game, for quite a long time now. Often considered to be the best league in the world, it certainly manifested young players since its inception. A host of young players have left their mark in the league. Mario Balotelli and Amad Dialo are some of the noteworthy names that come to mind whenever young goalscorers are mentioned. However, they are not the youngest ever to score in the Italian League. Let us take a look at the three youngest goalscorers in Serie A:
Pietro Pellegri ( 16 years 72 days):
Pellegri became the youngest ever goalscorer in Serie A back in 2016. The dynamic youngster made his debut in the league in 2015, at the age of 15. He also became the youngest debutant in the league ever as well. After his debut, he opened his account in the following season against AS Roma. Genoa took the lead through his goal. However, Roma won the match 3-2 in the later stages.
Khouma Babacar (17 years 03 days):
The Senegal international moved to Italy leaving his hometown when he was 14. He made his debut in the league when he was 16 years old. Playing for Fiorentina helped him a lot in establishing his game. He opened his account in the same season against Genoa. And that goal made him the second-youngest goalscorer ever in Serie A.
Richmond Boakye ( 17 years 65 days):
After starting his early development in Ghana, Richmond earned a move to Italy. He made his debut for Genoa when he was 17. He came on the pitch from the bench and it didn’t take him long to impact the game by scoring the equalizer against AS Livorno.
Both Moise Keane and Mario Balotelli are also close on the list. And as far as the Italian league is concerned this list might change soon as well.
