Speaking today, Hoeneß revealed that Musiala is dealing with an illness that cannot simply be cured, although medication can help manage the situation.
“With Musiala, the situation is completely different. We’re in a dilemma there. He has an illness that cannot simply be cured, but can be managed to some extent with medication,” Hoeneß explained, as reported by BR24.
The Bayern figure also left the door open over whether the 23-year-old will ever rediscover the form that previously made him one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents.
“Whether he will ever regain the level of performance he once had remains uncertain,” Hoeneß added.
Musiala’s situation also presents a difficult contractual dilemma for Bayern, with Hoeneß highlighting that the illness is not covered by the insurance provisions in his contract.
He explained that the midfielder continues to receive his full salary, despite the uncertainty surrounding his ability to return to his previous performances.
“Just imagine if FC Bayern were now to question his contract and say: ‘What he is capable of delivering now is no longer what was stipulated in the contract’,” Hoeneß remarked.
The comments offer a concerning insight into the uncertainty surrounding Musiala’s situation, particularly given his importance to Bayern’s long-term sporting plans.
The Germany international has endured a difficult period, and while Bayern will continue to support him through his recovery, Hoeneß’s latest remarks suggest there are still significant question marks over what the future holds for the attacking midfielder.
