Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham has earned a first senior international call-up for England, it has been announced.
The BVB central midfielder has taken time to show his true potential since his move from Sunderland over a year ago. However, now playing in a more advanced midfield role this season, head coach Niko Kovac is starting to get the most out of him.
Jobe has become a regular starter for BVB this season in all competitions and has nearly recorded half of the total minutes he played for Dortmund in the entirety of last year.
Jobe and Jude Midfield Partnership?
Should Jobe get minutes during the international break, he and his brother Jude could become the first brothers to share the pitch for the English national team since Phil and Gary Neville in the early 2000s.
England will play Croatia and Spain in the Nations League on the 12th and 15th November respectively.
Upon Jobe’s first senior call-up, head coach Thomas Tuchel talked about the reasoning behind the decision:
“Lee Carsley was talking highly about Jobe for weeks and months and that he deserves, if there is a spot, if there is a possibility to join, and to make an impression in the first team. He’s had some good matches now and he’s on a good run of form with Dortmund so he deserves to be with us.”
