After having Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan from Nottingham Forest for the second half of last season, Eintracht Frankfurt explored the possibility of signing the 24-year-old on a permanent basis.
However, the €27 million purchase option was beyond the Bundesliga club’s financial reach, and negotiations with Nottingham Forest ultimately broke down.
Now, Absolut Eintracht reports that Frankfurt are considering a fresh move for Kalimuendo during the January transfer window, with the Frenchman still the club’s preferred striker target.
According to the report, Eintracht are in a decent position to secure his services this time around, potentially through another loan deal with either an option or an obligation to buy.
Since Kalimuendo has been limited to just 110 minutes across five appearances this season, Nottingham Forest’s asking price may well have fallen since the summer.
Kalimuendo scored six goals in 19 appearances for Eintracht during his loan spell last season.
