With the 2026 NFL season approaching its halfway mark, there are numerous head coaches with questions being asked about their jobs.
Across the first nine weeks of the season, multiple teams have failed to meet the expectations set for them at the start of the year. In fact, it is something of a surprise that all 32 franchises have stuck with their respective head coaches to date this season.
History tells us that the patience of a frustrated owner rarely lasts long. To that end, we asked a supercomputer to predict the first three head coaches to be fired in the 2026 season, together with the game week in which they will be axed.
3
Nick Sirianni
Philadelphia Eagles
Sirianni led the Eagles to the Super Bowl title two years ago, but the team has endured an awful start to 2026. Philadelphia are currently on a six-game losing streak and sit bottom of the NFC East at 2-6.
The Eagles have real problems offensively and this is unlikely to be easy for Sirianni to solve, especially with starting QB Jalen Hurts ruled out for the season. For a team that started the year with hopes of going deep into the post-season, their present position will be troubling team owner Jeffrey Lurie.
The Supercomputer predicts that Sirianni will be fired after the Eagles host the Steelers in Week 11.
2
Aaron Glenn
New York Giants
The Jets fell to 2-6 on the season following their 38-33 defeat to the Raiders on Sunday. Overall, the loss took Glenn’s record as head coach of the franchise to 5-20.
As if things weren’t bad enough for the 54-year-old, the Jets’ upcoming schedule offers little in the way of hope, with a trip to the Chiefs followed by a visit from the Bills.
Struggling on both sides of the football, the Jets have also been criticized for their inability to close out games. Despite this, team owner Woody Johnson has repeatedly insisted that he won’t fire Glenn mid-season.
However, the technology disagrees, predicting that the Jets will axe their head coach after the Week 12 clash with the Dolphins.
1
Dan Quinn
Washington Commanders
Quinn has been a leading candidate to lose his job for several weeks. This pressure intensified after the 56-year-old’s terrible display of clock management in the Commander’s 27-27 tie in game Week 5 against the New York Giants after overtime.
Since that controversy, the Commanders have shown a few positive signs, which have almost certainly saved Quinn’s job so far. Washington came very close to overturning a 20-point deficit with a prideful comeback attempt in a 23-17 loss against the then undefeated San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.
The Commanders then went on to secure an impressive 27-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9. However, the technology points out that the team’s problems extend “beyond one good result.”
Quinn is predicted to lose his job following the visit of the Texans in Week 14.
