Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen to extend the contract of Achraf Hakimi (27), which currently runs until 2029, according to L’Équipe.
As things stand, this move is entirely unrelated to the Moroccan’s legal situation, despite the fact that he was recently referred – by the Court of Cassation – to the courts to face rape charges, in a trial that could take place in 2027. Presumed innocent and contesting the veracity of the allegations against him, Hakimi appears confident, as does PSG.
So much so that the club’s management is said to have recently sounded out the situation with a view to opening negotiations regarding the extension of his contract. These discussions are reportedly being held back for the time being by the player and his entourage, who believe there is still plenty of time before they need to consider such a matter.
Having joined PSG in 2021, Hakimi has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the world. Captain of the team selected by Luis Enrique to face Le Havre yesterday, the Madrid-born player delivered an exceptional performance, scoring three goals and providing two assists (1-5).
