Manchester United need results and they need them fast.
Manager Michael Carrick is a man under pressure, with the Red Devils going seven straight games without a win in all competitions, the latest of which being the abysmal 4-1 reverse at the hands of Como in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
United have only won once in the Premier League all season, sitting 13th in the table after even matches. A home game against struggling Bournemouth could be just what they need to kickstart their campaign. Or, on the flip side, it could be another banana skin that could send Carrick into a spiral.
The under-fire United boss has a number of injuries that he has had to deal with, being unable to name his strongest XI on a regular basis so far this season, which has not helped.
Here GIVEMESPORT takes a look at the players who look set to be missing against the Cherries.
Kobbie Mainoo
Came back into the set-up after withdrawing from the England squad for the international break but then picked up an injury in the game with Tottenham.
Has missed all three of United’s games since then, with Carrick admitting on October 10 that it was “maybe 10 days or so, but that’s not exact”.
Ruled out.
Luke Shaw
Another who picked up a knock in the game with Spurs.
Like Mainoo, he has missed all three of United’s games since then, with Carrick confirming ahead of the game against Leeds that he had “picked up an issue” that the club were “working through to see what it looks like”.
Ruled out.
Patrick Dorgu
The Danish international picked up a hamstring injury during the international break and had to return to Manchester United early as a result.
He looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines with Carrick confirming his absence is likely to be for a ‘number of weeks’.
Ruled out.
Benjamin Sesko
The Slovenia striker did not go on international duty because of a shin injury that he initially picked up towards the end of the 2025/26 season.
The frontman has played sporadic minutes so far this season but suffered a recurrence of the injury and has been missing since September 13. He is not ready to return as yet.
Ruled out.
Marcus Rashford
Was on the substitutes’ bench against Leeds and then not named in the squad for the Como clash after it was revealed that he had picked up a hip injury.
Carrick said earlier in the week that the forward was “still feeling a little bit of a hip issue that we are trying to overcome”.
Ruled out
Lisandro Martinez
The Argentina international suffered a thigh injury in the game with Leeds and was not part of the United squad that travelled to Italy for that disastrous game with Como in the Champions League.
