Mathis Albert (17) was handed his Borussia Dortmund in April 2026 at 16 years 11 months and five days. Now the young attacker is being courted by Premier League side Manchester City.
According to a report by Bild, Dortmund officials are aware of Manchester City’s interest in Albert, although they’re yet to receive a concrete offer. They have been monitoring the attacker’s development ‘for months’ and tried to bring him to England in January, and again this summer.
Bild also note that Liverpool and Arsenal have shown an interest in signing Albert, although they have a lower chance of signing the 17-year-old then Manchester City.
The problem that comes with pursuing Albert, who made history as USA’s youngest ever goalscorer in April 2026, is that BVB have him tied down to a long-term contract. Additionally, the Bundesliga side have no intention of allowing Albert to leave, as they see him as one of the club’s biggest talents.
In 2026/27, Albert has played 110 minutes across two games for Dortmund, in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal.
