In the toughest test either side has faced so far this season, Bayern Munich and Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for the Gunners after a quarter of an hour, before Alphonso Davies equalised for the hosts just ten minutes later – latching onto an exquisite ball from Harry Kane.
Kane would put Bayern in the lead in the second half, before compatriot Declan Rice ensured it would be a point apiece after an entertaining evening of Champions League action.
Both sides had their chances throughout, with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes seeing a header well saved by shotstopper Manuel Neuer in the early stages of the second half.
Reacting after the match, the Brazilian told BBC Radio 5 Live: “When I had the ball, I was already celebrating because I thought it was in. And he made an unbelievable save.
“For me, he’s one of the best keepers in the world, and he’s a legend in the game. And when I finished the game, I came to him and said, ‘How did you save this?’ And he said, ‘I don’t know as well.'”
Neuer has had a frustrating season so far, with the 40-year-old making just four Bundesliga appearances, missing the 6-1 rout of RB Leipzig over the weekend.
Now, attention turns to the weekend’s clash with Freiburg, as Bayern aim to seize control at the top of the standings after leapfrogging the Breisgau side on Saturday.
