Bayern Munich will be without Joshua Kimmich for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash against Arsenal following a death in his close family.
The German champions confirmed the news in a brief statement on Wednesday afternoon.
“Due to a passing in his immediate family, Joshua Kimmich is not in the squad today for the match against Arsenal,” the club stated.
“On behalf of the family, we ask that his privacy and grief be respected, and that further inquiries and reporting be refrained from.
“We send our deepest condolences to Joshua Kimmich and his loved ones.”
Bayern had announced on Tuesday that Kimmich missed the team’s final training session ahead of the game for personal reasons.
