An explanation for the decision of Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho not to take his place in front of the media in the aftermath of the club’s latest outing has surfaced online.
This of course comes after Los Blancos played their part in another controversy-filled affair on Saturday evening.
When all was said and done in the fixture, hosts Real emerged on the right side of a 1-0 result, courtesy of a 2nd-half strike on the part of summer signing Yan Diomandé.
A short time later, though, the Santiago Bernabéu exploded in collective frustration. After substitute Vinícius Jr. appeared to have put the result beyond doubt, a VAR check was announced.
From here, the goal was ruled out, with the Brazilian shown a straight red card for pulling the hair of Villarreal’s Nathan Saliba.
And the aforementioned José Mourinho had evidently still not managed to compose himself following the full-time whistle… As per a report from Marca, owing to not only the red card, but a string of other decisions and the general behaviour of the team of officials:
‘The Real Madrid coach was furious after the game, which is why he decided not to hold a press conference. “I’m not speaking because I want to be on the bench against Sevilla and Barcelona,” Mourinho told those closest to him.’
