The sporting world never stops turning. At any point of the day or night, there’s always something noteworthy taking place. Whether it’s a crazy knockout, buzzer-beating basket, game-winning touchdown, last-minute goal or any other aspect of sporting drama or debate, it’s tough for anyone to keep up with absolutely everything that occurs.
However, it’s often the small details which make sport so absorbing to follow. With that in mind, GIVEMESPORT have created this blog, dedicated to bringing you the smaller, more unique and more curious stories from around the world that you may have missed. It could be football, tennis, Formula 1, UFC, Boxing, WWE, Basketball, NFL or any other sporting pastime; if it’s related to sport and worth knowing about, you’ll probably find it here!
Former Champions League Club Relegated to Sixth Tier
Bordeaux have been relegated to the sixth tier of French football, just weeks after being sold for one euro (85p).
The French club have endured a sad fall from grace after winning Ligue 1 in 2009. They have gone into administration twice since 2021, which saw them drop to the fourth tier of French football.
This summer, they were sanctioned for failing to provide the roughly 10 million euros needed for the 2025-2026 financial year as well as 2026-2027 and meet debt payments.
They were sold to Park Bench last month, with the US-based investment group agreeing to take on the remaining debt. Just weeks after the sale, they have now been unanimously approved to play in the top regional tier.
“Rebuilding can now begin,” Dominique Delport, the new president chosen by Park Bench, said to AFP after their demotion.
Ian Holloway Tears Into ‘Disgraceful’ Man City in Explosive Six-Minute Rant
Former Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has launched into an explosive six-minute rant after being asked about Manchester City’s guilty charges. The current Swindon Town boss did not hold back as he made his feelings clear on the Premier League side’s cheating.
He spoke about the impact Man City had on his Blackpool team of that era, claiming he felt “robbed” by some dodgy calls in a loss vs the Etihad club before exploding with rage.
“That’s not the way the game should be. You’ve got to try and find a way to be part of something and be with somebody. They have seriously dented football and I think it’s harmed it and I would absolutely hammer ten bells out of the whole lot of them because they knew what they were doing.
“They’re still lying about it now, which is absolutely disgraceful. But how can you control who owns a football club? But you can certainly get stronger rules and regulations. You can certainly make sure that they’re being tested and looked at.
“It’s even at our level. How can you have a gate of 2,000 people and you pay what Salford are paying? None of it makes any sense. How can you be Wrexham and get all of that? None of it makes any sense. And in the whole world, you find people who find loopholes and exploit that.
“This game is bigger and better than all of you. You’re a disgrace. You’ve tarred it so badly. You’re not the only people who do that. They have, right at the top of it all, where some of the people at the top of UEFA and FIFA were put in prison. And I said they were corrupt because that’s what happens. Money, power.”
He later added: “How dare you ruin what is part of our country, our DNA in this country. Honestly, every one of us, mining villages, God knows why it all started, who knows, but it’s all about a team and believing that you can be fairly better than someone else. And they’ve gone and ruined it right at the top of the game. Absolute disgrace.”
In terms of sanctions, he added: “Something really has to happen. And is it a points deduction? For me, get the hell down. Put them in non-league somewhere and make them only use the amount of money.”
The BBC condensed the rant into a shorter clip which can be viewed below:
Goncalo Ramos’ Post After Scoring Portugal Winner as Ronaldo’s Replacement
There has been a great deal of drama in the Portugal squad during the international break, with Cristiano Ronaldo departing in a huff over a lack of game time. He then caused a big stir online by ‘liking’ a controversial post in which Felipe Melo, the former Brazil international, criticised Ronaldo’s teammates.
The show must go on, however, and Portugal were able to come from behind to beat Norway 2-1 in their latest fixture. It was perhaps fitting that Ronaldo’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos, was the man who bagged the winner.
It’s been a great spell for the striker, who has now scored three goals in a row for Portugal, while also getting one assist, having been trusted to lead the line ahead of Ronaldo. Revelling in his good form, Ramos took to social media to share a post after the win.
He reposted a six-word message from journalist and analyst Luis Freitas Lobo on his Instagram story, featuring a picture of himself celebrating his goal, with the caption:
“The status of being the best.”
The post was even reported by Portuguese media outlet A Bola, but has since been deleted.
Luke Littler Enters Tournament Many Darts Fans Don’t Think He Should Compete In
Luke Littler, without doubt the best darts player in the world right now, has caused a stir by entering the 2026 World Youth Championship.
All PDC tour card holders that are aged 23 or under at the start of the season are automatically invited. Littler, who has won back-to-back world titles, won the event in 2023 and is bidding to do so again in 2026.
‘The Nuke’, just 19 years old, is well within his rights to compete, but his decision to play the tournament has not gone down well with some darts fans online.
One darts fan said: ‘Would be like Lionel Messi turning up and playing Sunday League’. A second commented: ‘Daft on so many levels’. A third wrote: ‘That is laughable’, while a fourth commented: ‘What a joke’.
Littler also played in the 2025 event but lost to Beau Greaves in the semi-finals. Greaves has chosen not to play, as has Gian van Veen, who will not defend his title.
11 other PDC tour card holders will take part, including Sebastian Bialecki, Keane Barry, Cam Crabtree and Charlie Manby.
Eddie Hearn’s Brutal Response to Dana White Calling Him ‘Delusional’
Eddie Hearn has not held back with his brutal response after Dana White called him ‘delusional’. The pair have publicly clashed over the highly anticipated Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua boxing match.
Hearn has repeatedly said White has no official involvement in the bout, while White claims he is both promoting and producing the event. On Thursday, White spoke to reporters about the matter, saying:
“Was I lying? Was I wrong? Am I not the promoter?. Am I not producing the entire f*cking event? The answer is yes. I think the difference between me and Eddie is Eddie’s trying to win some PR battle. Eddie likes to see himself on interviews. He likes to talk a lot and talking a lot will get you in a lot of f*cking trouble.”
He then called Hearn ‘delusional’, remarking: “I’ll put it to you this way: Like I said, judge me at the end of the year. Let’s see how this whole thing looks in a couple of years. The writing is on the wall. Whatever little f*cking—pardon me, ladies—p*ssy game he thinks he won, he’s out of his mind. He’s incredibly delusional. He knows what’s going on.”
On Friday, by way of a response, Hearn shared a brutal montage online. In the post, which has quickly gone viral, a number of clips show White stumbling over his words as he appears to overstate his involvement in the organisation of the fight, while then being proven wrong.
Hearn shared the post with the caption: “Gonna leave this one here. Time to move on to the big stuff. 10 weeks today the biggest fight in British boxing history! Let’s gooooo.”

Turki Alalshikh Calls Out Dua Lipa at Joshua vs Fury Press Conference
Turki Alalshikh launched a bizarre shot at Dua Lipa during the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua press conference on Wednesday evening.
Alalshikh was believed to want Lipa to perform at the stadium ahead of the fight. However, he has now said that the English singer won’t because she ‘does not like him’. He said:
“I will be honest today. “I know that London wouldn’t give me the stadium until 2am, and I know that Dua Lipa will not perform in the stadium because she doesn’t like boxing, and maybe she doesn’t like me…”
Alalshikh added: “I think she has something with the Arab. And, you know, it is my blood. I cannot change it.”
His comments haven’t gone down well on Reddit. One boxing fan called him a ‘clown’, while another said: ‘It seems pretty immature to publicly whine about it like this.’
The Daily Mail have reached out to Lipa’s representatives but they have not yet replied.
EA Respond to Strange EA FC Glitch
EA have issued a response after a strange glitch was highlighted on social media by shocked gamers.
The latest version of EA FC was released last week and it was discovered, shortly before the official launch, that a bug occasionally caused female character to walk around the dressing room, on the pitch, and during goal celebrations wearing only their underwear.
The issue was first reported on September 18, the day early access began, when a clip was shared to Reddit of a female character dressed in nothing but a black bra and knickers.
One EA FC player explained their theory behind the bug, writing, per The Metro: “If a shirt/attire is not properly loaded onto live server, the person will end up being in their undies as their attire cannot be loaded. Happened every year, but mostly on the pre-release test builds.”
LADbible have contacted EA, who claim they are aware of an “isolated issue” during the game. The gaming giant reportedly add that the bug is set to be resolved in an update.
