Speaking to media whilst on international duty with Germany, Jonas Hofmann confirms that contract extension talks with Borussia Mönchengladbach are currently on hold.
“The timing isn’t quite right at the moment,” said the 29-year-old. “It’s important to me that when I’m having a conversation, that I look the person I’m talking to in the eye. Doing something like that over the phone isn’t my style.”
Hofmann did however say that he expects talks to resume once he returns to the club: “After the Nations League and the two or three weeks of vacation, it will probably come down to us sitting at a table and seeing that happens next.”
Hofmann had interest from both Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur as he enters the final year of his contract.
