Sky Germany reports that Liverpool are considering bringing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah back to the club.
Quansah moved to the Bundesliga from the Premier League champions for €35m, and it was reported that there was a buyback option in the deal.
Now, Liverpool are considering whether it will bring the 23-year-old back to the club as it looks to boost their defensive options.
If the Premier League side does decide to make a move, they have a buy-back option in the deal worth €80m, which is a hefty price for a defender who has been away for one season and the fact they spent €63m on Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet to move to the club in the summer.
Quansah’s season away from Liverpool:
In what has been an up-and-down season for Leverkusen, Quansah has been one of die Werkself’s better players. At the weekend, he scored his fourth goal of the season as he rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Mainz.
A move so soon back to England is unlikely to justify the price tag, and staying at the BayArena would give the 23-year-old the chance to develop into more of a leader of the defence, while at Liverpool, he is likely to be behind other players in the pecking order.
