Igor Tudor Must Axe Tottenham Star Archie Gray After Arsenal Display

Tottenham manager Igor Tudor must surely know that he needs to remove Archie Gray from the side after what happened against Arsenal.

Spurs suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat at home to their north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, and although it was an incredibly disappointing result, it’s perhaps one that their supporters will have expected.

Tudor has been dealt a difficult hand coming into this Tottenham job. Not only are Spurs struggling towards the bottom of the Premier League table, they have a host of injuries to a large portion of their key players.

Tudor’s tenure at Spurs won’t be defined by a game against the league leaders, but it will certainly give him plenty to think about, with multiple players underperforming.

Tudor Must Axe Archie Gray

Tudor surely knows that he needs to make some changes ahead of Tottenham’s game against Fulham, and one of those should be to drop Gray from the starting XI.

It’s not entirely Gray’s fault, but it’s clear that he’s not a right-wing-back. The former Leeds man was ‘bullied’ by Viktor Gyokeres throughout, and Tudor needs to make a decision on him.

There’s a chance Tudor could look to bring Gray into his natural midfield role, but either way, he needs to remove him from the right-wing-back position if he’s going to continue using this system.

Spurs need to bounce back immediately if they want to climb away from the relegation zone, and although Xavi Simons has been receiving a lot of the criticism, Gray’s performance will have been a concern for Tudor too.

Tudor Has Options to Replace Gray at Tottenham

Although Tudor does have injury problems to contend with at Tottenham, he does have options to replace Gray at right-wing-back. Young defender Souza could come into the side, which would likely see Djed Spence move over to the right.

Pedro Porro could be ideal for the role, and although he missed the game against Arsenal, it’s been suggested that he should be close to returning to action.

If Porro is fit and available for the game against Fulham, then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him come straight into the starting XI. The Spanish defender might need a bit of time to get up to speed, but there’s no doubt he should be coming in for Gray eventually.
