Karlsruher SC ended a four-game winless run with a comfortable win over Holstein Kiel. The visitors have now lost five matches on the trot in all competitions. Despite his 90th-minute penalty-kick miss costing him a hat-trick, Marvin Wanitzek was the standout player.
The 32-year-old scored both in the eighth minute and with eight minutes left in the game. The versatile midfielder has now reached double figures in each of the last four seasons with Karlsruhe.
It was also a memorable game for Louey Ben Farhat as the 19-year-old scored and assisted for the first time since the opening matchday win over Preußen Münster. Marcus Müller scored Kiel’s goal in injury-time after Wanitzek was denied his first-ever hat-trick at the BBBank Wildpark.
