Celtic are set to complete the signing of Lorient winger Joel Mvuka on loan after renegotiating a deal following medical complications, according to journalist Stephen McGowan.
Reports emerged late on deadline day that a move to sign Mvuka from Lorient was in doubt, after issues were discovered when he was completing his medical with the Glasgow club. Celtic were working on signing the 23-year-old on a permanent deal for a fee of around £3m, but that’s now changed.
It appears that the reports claiming that a deal had hit stumbling blocks were true, as Celtic have now renegotiated the deal, meaning it should work more in their favour after discovering the medical problems.
Celtic Set to Complete Late Signing
According to journalist McGowan, Celtic are set to complete the loan signing of Lorient winger Mvuka towards the end of the January transfer window.
The full report from McGowan, for The Herald, confirmed that although medical issues were flagged, that hasn’t prevented a deal going through, with Celtic switching from a permanent move to a loan with an option to buy. Now, Celtic can discover the full extent of his medical problems and see whether it impacts him playing regularly for the Scottish side.
A deal is now expected to go through, but Celtic are in a race against time to secure his signature, with the deadline approaching on Monday evening. McGowan also confirms that Celtic are tying up the details to sign young Brentford defender Benjamin Arthur on loan for the remainder of the season.
