Karim Benzema (38) has left Al-Ittihad for Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Hilal, the latter have officially announced. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has been in disagreement with Al-Ittihad over a contract extension, which put his future in Jeddah in jeopardy.
Benzema previously joined Al-Ittihad upon the expiry of his Real Madrid contract in 2023. His eye for goal didn’t leave him in Saudi Arabia as he logged 54 goals and 17 assists in 83 games for Al-Ittihad. Led by Benzema, the club won the SPL league title and the King’s Cup last season.
Due to his contractual situation, SPL leader Al-Hilal pounced and secured Benzema’s signing on a one-and-a-half-year deal.
