Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka is reportedly a target for AC Milan. Italian media reported on a potential move for the German midfielder today, and the rumour mill is spinning, especially considering his status at the Allianz Arena.
While not applicable for the January window, Goretzka’s current Bayern contract expires at the end of June, and has triggered several favourable suitors.
As per Transfermarkt’s estimations, Milan enter among a group including Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Napoli as potential destinations for the 30-year-old.
While Goretzka’s ability anywhere in the midfield comes as an impressive weapon for any team’s armoury, the permutations have to be right for the Rossoneri for this move to go ahead.
Right now, Bayern’s number eight earns €7 million per season, which would have to be lowered if he moved to Italy. Agent fees would also inevitably add to the deal.
Furthermore, Luka Modric’s future at the club must be considered. If he adds to his initial 12-month deal, Goretzka’s move could become difficult. It begs the question whether the San Siro side would let the 40-year-old Croatian legend, who’s currently on €6.5m a year, go for the sake of the slightly younger 67-cap German.
