Tottenham Eye £60m Move For Mile Svilar To Replace Booed Star

Tottenham are likely to be busy in the January transfer window as Thomas Frank looks to bolster his squad and improve the team’s performances on the pitch, and one player they have looked at is goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who is also a target for Manchester United.

Spurs are set to complete the signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, who was also a Man United target, while GIVEMESPORT understands that the club are also looking to add a left-sided forward and a striker to their ranks this month, with owners ENIC pumping a £100million investment into the club.

Tottenham are also set to seal a deal for wonderkid Souza – the teenage left-back who will sign in a £13million deal from Brazilian side Santos once his medical has been completed.

Spurs are 14th in the Premier League table and if you were to ask the fanbase, a good chunk would suggest that the entire squad could do with an overhaul.

Thomas Frank Unhappy With Spurs Fans

Guglielmo Vicario

One area that is not spoken about very often is in between the sticks, with Guglielmo Vicario the No.1 for the past three seasons and Antonin Kinsky having joined the club in the last January transfer window.

Vicario has his doubters, however, and made headlines earlier this season when Frank had to come out and defend his goalkeeper after the Tottenham fans booed him and sarcastically cheered him during the defeat to Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Vicario had made a howler, gifting the Whites their second goal and Frank was less than impressed with the home fans.

He said afterwards: “I heard some of our fans apparently booed the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable.

“[They] can’t be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough booing after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other going forward.”

What Happened With Mile Svilar In The Champions League

Vicario has been linked with a move back to Italy and Tottenham could hit the Italian market for a replacement if they want to make a change, with reports suggesting the Lilywhites have sent scouts to watch Roma keeper Svilar this season.

According to ASRomaLive, Spurs are among a number of Premier League teams to have scouted the 26-year-old this season, with Chelsea and Manchester United also named as potential destinations.

Svilar himself made headlines for all the wrong reasons in a game against Manchester United when playing for Benfica as an 18-year-old in the Champions League in 2017. Svilar carried the ball into his own net from a United free-kick – the only goal of the game – but was praised by then United boss Jose Mourinho afterwards.

Svilar Will Cost Tottenham Big Money

Mourinho said: “He is a phenomenon, he is amazing,” said Mourinho. “Only great goalkeepers suffer goals like this.

“Either Benfica has a top goalkeeper for many years, or the president should prepare a big suitcase [for the money].

“Only top keepers concede these goals. Because bad keepers stay on their line, bad keepers don’t come out for crosses, bad keepers don’t try to analyse the game, bad keepers don’t use their space to give cover like he did in the first half a few times.

“I knew before the match – this keeper is phenomenal.”

Svilar is likely to command a huge fee, given his performances for Roma in the last three-and-a-half seasons and having signed a new contract with the club last year.

His current deal runs until 2030 and Roma are thought to be demanding in the region of €70million (£60million) to part ways.
