In a heartbreaking social media post, former Chelsea youth player Lamisha Musonda has revealed that he has just ‘a few days left’ amid some critical health issues. The 33-year-old was at Stamford Bridge between 2012 and 2014.
He made headlines over a decade ago, when moving to the Premier League club from Anderlecht alongside his two brothers Tika and Charly Jr. Of the three, only Charly went on to play for the senior team, making seven competitive appearances, but injury issues prevented him from ever truly making an impact either.
Lamisha, instead, spent a few years in the academy, playing 15 times for Chelsea U21s before being sold to KV Mechelen, making his Belgian Pro League debut in March 2014. Unable to really impress in his home country, after three years without a club, he ended up at Spanish side Llagostera along with his brother, Tika.
Lamisha would head to Congo to briefly play for Mazembe in November 2018, before deciding to quit football.
Lamisha Reveals He’s ‘Struggling to Regain Health’
In a post shared via his official Instagram account, Lamisha shared that he is seriously unwell, without stating his exact illness. In a full statement, he explained:
“As I realise I only have a few days left, I also realise I had a lot of people by my side and I’ll always cherish
“Life is all about ups and downs, and no one can really understand the pain you endure. These past two years have been particularly difficult and challenging for me. It is with great sadness that I announce I am struggling to regain health, which explains my absence from social networks
“I had to make it clear: my health is critical and I am now fighting to survive. Your help and prayers would be of great help during this time. Me and my family are fighting and I will not give up until my last breath.
“As you can tell, I was blessed to have such a beautiful youth… & I still have so much to offer. But there are so many wonderful people I wish I could thank in person. The fact that I may not have the chance to do that is sorry.
“I love all of you, Lamisha.”
Romelu Lukaku Sends Message of Support
A number of footballers have left messages of support to the 33-year-old, including former Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian wrote: “Courage Lamisha. We are with you.”
Argentine Matias Suarez, who played for Anderlecht at the same time, added: “Come on brother stay strong, you are a fighter.”
Lamisha spent six years with the Belgian side between 2006 and 2012 before he joined Chelsea. With that in mind, an Anderlecht supporters group were also keen to send their love, writing: “Strength to you, Lamisha. After reading these words, football becomes secondary. Health and life come first.
“From the entire purple and white family, you are not alone. Courage, strength and thoughts to you and your loved ones.”
