Spain defeated Portugal 1-0 in Braga last night to go to the Final Four of the Nations League.
Nico Williams came on in the 73rd minute to assist Álvaro Morata’s winning goal. In a post-match interview that appeared on Marca, he mentioned what Morata told him after the goal:
“For me it is an honor to be here. Morata told me that the goal is mine. I saw him there alone and I passed it to him.”
While he wants to go to the World Cup, he understands that the decision is not in his hands:
“I’m growing as a player and a person. Hopefully I can be at the World Cup, but that is the coach’s decision.”
Nico Williams also revealed what Luis Enrique told him before he came on:
“He told me to be brave and to be myself. Let’s see if we can win the Final Four.”
