In the Bundesliga’s last game before the winter break, Bayern Munich comfortably ran out 4-0 winners against 1. FC Heidenheim at the Voith-Arena.
Bayern controlled proceedings from start to finish and opened the scoring through Josip Stanisic after 15 minutes, with the defender nodding home from a corner-kick routine.
Michael Olise doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, reacting quickest to a deflected shot from Hiroki Ito to slot the ball home.
After the break, Bayern continued to dominate possession heavily and came close to a third when Harry Kane’s effort rattled the post in the 54th minute.
Heidenheim responded briefly, with Stefan Schimmer heading against the bar just two minutes later.
Schimmer had another big chance to change the scoreline in the 78th minute, but his shot from a promising position was kept out by Jonas Urbig, who started in place of the injured Manuel Neuer.
Bayern effectively put the game to bed in the 86th minute when Luis Diaz headed in Josip Stanisic’s clever cross.
But they weren’t finished yet – a few minutes into injury time, Harry Kane collected a pass from Serge Gnabry, took a couple of touches, and made it 4-0 to round off the scoring.
The win leaves Bayern nine points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund heading into the winter break.
