AS Roma aren’t giving up in their pursuit of Breel Embolo (28). The Italian side tried to sign the former AS Monaco striker in the summer, but instead he wound up at Stade Rennais at the end of the transfer window.
The Swiss international is currently on a four-year contract with Rennes, but the Serie A leaders have him in their sights once again, according to a report from L’Équipe. It was a difficult start to the Ligue 1 campaign for the striker in Brittany, though he seems to have rounded into form in recent weeks, scoring in each of his last two league fixtures.
Roma have yet to make contact with Les Rennais about his services, but are said to be keeping tabs on his progress. The former Monaco attacker has earned 83 caps for Switzerland, scoring 22 goals. Rennes’ stance on a potential sale is – for now – unclear.
