Real Madrid star David Alaba has suffered a fresh setback amid his ongoing efforts to return to the pitch in the colours of Los Blancos.
This comes amid confirmation that the defender returned to Spain’s capital this week nursing a knock.
Alaba is for his part fresh off a stint away with the Austrian national team, which saw the former Bayern Munich man and his compatriots book their spot at next summer’s World Cup.
Despite being called upon, Alaba did not feature in either of his nation’s November fixtures, after a recent spell on the sidelines with a muscular issue.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, an insight into why has been forthcoming online.
As per a report from Real Madrid insider Melchor Ruiz of COPE, the 33-year-old reported back to base at Valdebebas with a fresh muscular overload.
His status to feature in Los Blancos’ meeting with Elche on Sunday has therefore been thrown firmly up in the air.
