Manchester United are ‘pushing’ to sign promising Swedish striker Kevin Filling in January, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed.
The Old Trafford side are believed to be working towards a deal for the 16-year-old forward, who is also on the radar of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
The German club are claimed to have recently joined United in the race for Filling, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising forwards in Europe.
Plettenberg claims the 16-year-old could leave his current club, Swedish side AIK, as soon as this winter, although no agreement has been reached with any club yet.
Filling, who turns 17 later this month, made his professional debut earlier this year and has scored two goals in nine Swedish top-flight appearances for AIK.
Dortmund Join Man Utd in Race for Filling
Plettenberg, writing on X, revealed that Dortmund have joined Man United in the race for Filling, with Borussia sporting director Sebastian Kehl aiming to land the 16-year-old.
Filling was handed his first-team debut by AIK in June and scored in his very first senior appearance, a 3-0 league win over Goteborg.
Days later, he was rewarded with his first professional contract by the Swedish side, who have tied Filling to the club until the summer of 2028.
Tottenham were another Premier League club recently linked with interest in the ‘enormous’ forward, who has shined for Swedish national youth sides recently.
Despite being only 16, Filling is already being picked for the Under-18s team and enjoyed a stunning debut, netting a brace in the 3-1 win over Wales Under-18s.
Man United have bolstered their academy ranks with promising talents like Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven and Sekou Kone in the past 18 months, with 17-year-old Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco the latest to be snapped up by the Red Devils.
Ruben Amorim’s side are seventh in the Premier League after 11 games and next host Everton on Monday.
