The German Football Association (DFB) has confirmed that Noah Atubolu and Kevin Schade will not be part of Germany’s squad for Monday’s World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland.
Freiburg goalkeeper Atubolu was examined on Sunday after taking a knock to his knee and is set to receive treatment on Monday.
He was called up as an extra back-up after Oliver Baumann struggled with illness ahead of Germany’s 4–0 win over Luxembourg, but was ultimately left out of the squad as Baumann was passed fit.
Kevin Schade, who was called up to replace the injured Jamie Leweling, also did not travel to Belfast.
The Brentford winger is not injured, but head coach Julian Nagelsmann could only name 23 players in the matchday squad and decided to leave out Schade.
