FEATURE – Five new signings to look out for in GW 2 of Serie A

The transfer window is now close to being over but it has been a very notable window in the Serie A. In the first weekend of action, we already saw new signings in action, including a goal from Kevin De Bruyne.

Let us see 5 new signings to look out for in GW2 of the season in Serie A.

#5 Jonathan Rowe – Bologna

Jonathan Rowe was targeted by Roma and Atalanta but has ended up at Bologna. He has cost €18.5m from Marseille. But the real reason he moved to Italy is because he had a fight with former teammate Adrien Rabiot in Marseille training and both were immediately transfer listed. It remains to be seen what the English winger can do on the pitch against Como while under the microscope.

#4 Jesus Rodriguez – Como

A lot of the talk regarding Como last week was about Nico Paz and deservedly so, but new signing Jesus Rodriguez’s performance went under the radar. He consistently tried to take his fullback on and make something happen. While it didn’t always happen, the signs were hugely positive. Watch out this weekend against Bologna for the Spanish winger who cost Como €22m from Real Betis.

#3 Lorenzo Lucca – Napoli

A lot of importance will be on Lorenzo Lucca over the next couple of months. Romelu Lukaku is out injured meaning the new signing from Udinese is going to be starting for now. But Napoli are definitely looking for another striker and the 24 year old has to show that no matter who comes in, he has it in him to be the starting striker. The goals will continue to come from the midfield that has Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay but Lucca has to show his calibre too, starting this weekend against Cagliari.

#2 Evan Ferguson – Roma

Evan Ferguson to Roma has been one of the most exciting signings in the Serie A this season. Once seen as a very talented prospect at Brighton, his stock has fallen massively. Roma have brought him in on loan and he has looked good in pre-season as well as the first game of the season. The goals will come sooner rather than later, perhaps starting this weekend against newly promoted Pisa.

#1 Luka Modric – Milan

Milan were on the losing side in the first weekend, against Cremonese. However, one person who looked good was new signing Luka Modric. The Croatian, who was signed as a free agent, looked assured as ever, even in his new colours. This weekend, they take on Lecce and Modric will be hoping that him and the rest of Milan’s new look midfield can inspire the Rossoneri to their first win of the 2025/26 season.
