Subbed off in the 34th minute during Sunday’s 0-0 draw with SC Freiburg, Gladbach are already concerned that attacker Florian Neuhaus might have suffered a brutal ACL tear. If confirmed, the injury will sideline the 25-year-old for up to nine months.
While it isn’t necessary likely that the occasional German national team midfielder factored into Bundestrainer Hansi Flick’s plans for the coming World Cup, the tear would definitely rule him out.
BMG trainer Daniel Farke confirmed that Neuhaus was on crutches during his post-match interview with German broadcaster DAZN.
“It looks like an ACL tear,” Farke said of player he has used in all six of his league starting XIs, “He’s not doing too well. We hope our worst fears are not confirmed.”
